Oi ootamme kaivosten yösta

by Torbjörn Ömalm

about

Instrumental guitar version of a traditional miner song from the Torney Valley area in Sweden/Finland. Inspired by a recorded performance of Gösta Tiensuu (1904-1985) in Huuki during the early 1970s.

"Työn vaivossa arvoja luomme
hiki otsalla uurastain
Ja toisille nautinnon suomme, jota itse ei tunneta lain"

(We dig treasures of the mountain in hardship and pain
with foreheads soaked in sweat
Bringing wealth to others, that we ourselves receives nothing from.)
